Eating Silk worm larvae has to be one of the grossest things I’ve eaten here at the Gross Grub series of disgusting Thai food. In Thailand it’s normal, but to me – it will always be fish bait.

I don’t think I’d have trouble with crunchy bugs but the “sklork” factor would give me problems…silkworm pupae, the body of a spider, big grubs…

hey there i love your series, i was wondering if you ever try eating any bugs alive not cooked? I know they don’t taste good fresh and uncooked. I hope to go to Thailand and vietname someday.. I’m going to Japan and Hong Kong.

Nah, they’re all fried – the bamboo worms were the best of the bunch I guess but fried in some sick oil, salted and soy-sauced… not my ideal food by a long shot!

i think they are preserved with salt if they are salty..if you ate fish and they fried it in less than 10 min they are preserved salty fish. but man do u hav balls to do that!

Yeah I ate it after I dropped it – I’ve been doing that in Thailand since I got here… didn’t die from it yet. We have some weird beliefs in the west… yeah?

sort of – of all the sick stuff I ate – these silkworms were not all that cooked. In fact, maybe not at all now that I’m thinking about it. I wouldn’t know the different between cooked and uncooked so, these might very well be uncooked!

nauhn in thai means worm and malaeng means bugs or insects so just some facts on words to use
